Ah, that’s about half an hour or so from where I used to live in Ocean Springs IIRC.

Oh wow really? Yeah you can see the port off in the distance, so just a few miles east of hwy 49 when I took this.

Yup, I lived right practically on top of East Beach as a kid. Such a great area. Lots of memories from living there. We moved a year before Katrina hit....

I can honestly say the beach looks better than it has in many years. Katrina destroyed so much on the coast and there are still plenty of empty lots on 90 where houses and businesses once stood. It’s a constant reminder of the devastating effects of a major hurricane. You are very lucky that you moved before it happened.

Last time I went back was around 2006 or so. Out old house was fine enough, but a lot of the places that held significance to me were completely obliterated.
I’d move back in an instant if I could. But I don’t want to leave my friends and obligations in DC. Even though I hate it here with a burning passion. Hell, even though I live in Northern Va I still get shit for being from Mississippi. Everybody is so stuck up and prejudiced here.

Man that sucks. Thankfully I live an hour north, so where I live wasn’t damaged as badly as right on the coast. I remember a friend and I coming down a few months after and seeing all the devastation. Something I will never forget.
I hate to hear that things are like that for you. Furthest north I have been is Cleveland and everybody there seemed very nice. I guess they can’t all be that way though.

It’s a place filled with stuck up people and corrupt politicians.
If I could, I’d be back there in a heartbeat.
